I wonder did our new health minister, Dr James O' Reilly read last weeks Sunday World?
First of all it revealed that Doctor O' Reilly was actually quite rich. I would never have guessed. I thought that Jag he was driving was standard for Fine Gael members.
Apparently theres a nice buck to make from being a GP/TD. Doctor O' Reilly owns a substantial amount of business interests including much of the Lusk town centre complex, an old folk's home and several rental accommodations. Nice.
Sunday World columnist Paddy Murphy also had a crack at O' Reilly about his unwavering support for the development of the Metro North, which Murphy claims only interests O' Reilly because its in his own constituency.
Murphy stated;
"He (O' Reilly) says construction would create 5,000 jobs. It won't
The longest tunnel in the world has just been completed in Switzerland. It created 2,000 jobs.
When complete, he says, it will 'create 37,000 jobs' in Fingal. It won't. It's a €6bn ego trip."
Ah well Doc, at least they didnt mention the way you claimed more than €32,000 in Dail expenses in 2009. Thats an average of €1,800 a month – for travel and subsistence despite having a home in Rush, just 18 miles from Dáil Éireann.
Opps.
